Welcome to the website of the BMW Drivers Club of SA.

The Club's strength is its members and their wide range of classic to modern BMW's.

OUR ENTRY TO CLUB MOTORSPORT

The July 19th meeting introduced plans for Motorsport this year and 2018 - we have a unique opportunity in 2017 to showcase the club as well as compete in a low risk CAMS sanctioned event.

Modern Regularity at Mallala is organised by Austin 7 Club /TTM ( www.tracktimemotorsport.com.au ) and usually 8 rounds are held each year with heats for A,B & C categories.  The entry fee is $140 each round.

➢ Our club has been invited to the September 10th meeting for a session of parade laps free of charge and none of the usual requirements for the car or apparel, however a disclaimer needs to be signed on the day.  The session would be run as a club group and allow drivers to experience the track layout.  Car owners/drivers can mix freely with competitors in the paddock and everyone is very willing to answer questions and be supportive.

➢ At the next meeting on October 29th our club will be given all the Group C sessions exclusively if a minimum grid is guaranteed.  First a practice session of 12 minutes ( about 5 laps ) then five heats averaging 6 laps spread over the day.  The full CAMS / Organiser regulations apply for competitors.  Once again experienced drivers and officials around the paddock will help with what, where and when.

The indicative cost for competing would be $600 and this includes a 12 month L2S licence and initial once only costs. NOTE : You can only be issued a L2S licence by CAMS if you are a member of an affiliated car club. Applications to CAMS online.

We have to have your October 29th entry cost of $140 by time of our next meeting on 16th August latest - we will have a further discussion about motorsport at this meeting.

CHANGES TO HISTORIC REGO... as of July 1st there has been changes to the existing Historic Rego codes of practice which may impact BMW owners, first main change is to a rolling 30 year qualification, the other is modifications from original will now be allowed. This all means our registrar only needs to do is verify build date and that is usually on existing rego papers. All you need to do is present that paperwork, a photo of car and compliance plate would help, to a club meeting, 3rd Wednesday every month at the clubrooms, 262 Tapleys Hill Rd Seaton, and either join the club or be a financial member
